Brazilian thrash metal band. When Sepultura left Brazil to seek greater exposure in the rest of world, they left Overdose the reigning kings of Brazilian thrash, thanks in part to a contractual obligation preventing Overdose from following Sepultura's lead. Like Sepultura, Overdose mix traditional thrash metal with the sounds, rhythms, and percussion instruments of their homeland, creating their own distinctive, unmistakable sound. Overdose uses its music as a platform to speak out against injustice in Brazilian society and government, a passionate concerns of bandleaders and guitarists Claudio David and Sergio Cichovicz. By 1995, their contractual barriers were lifted, and Overdose was finally free after ten years together to seek a wider audience with the "Progress of Decadence" album. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
