NORSE has forged a distinguished place in the Australian extreme metal scene drawing on the unique talents of guitarist and vocalist Treelo Herrington and drummer Robin ‘Frog’ Stone [The Amenta].
In 2006, NORSE released their debut EP, The Unrelenting. This EP launched a ground swell of support from metal audiences everywhere. Even though NORSE was committed to extensive touring in Australia at this time they continued to experiment with new sounds that integrated the technical elements of both black and death metal. This new work pulled them back into the studio in 2008 where fifteen months of hibernation created NORSE’s debut full-length album, Hellstorm. This substantial work was recorded and mixed with Erik Miehs [from the Amenta] and mastered by Reece Tunbridge at Benchmark Mastering. Voltage media has described Hellstorm as an “album that bluntly underlines the talent of the quartet.”
The winter of 2011 saw the duo hit the studio once again to begin recording their sophomore effort, All is Mist and Fog. This work was engineered by Harvey O’Sullivan, mixed by the band with Daniel Quinlan and mastered by Paul Butler at ‘The Butler Mastering Studios’. The new album has gained critical attention and propelled NORSE on stage with ABSU (US), MNEMIC (DK), PSYCROPTIC (AU), and DARK FUNERAL (SE) in 2012 alone.
