The ReAktion is a Southamerican alternative rock / electronica band from Santiago, Chile. Formed in 2010, the band develops a unique sound based on elements of rock, metal, and electronic music. Conceptually, The ReAktion deals with subjects such as social movements, environmental awareness, and unity, in an attempt to bring a revolution of conciousness to the world.
The band records its first Demo LP "Be(lie)ve in R(evol)ution" independently on 2011 in Backstage Rockstore Studios (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thereaktion). Besides the whole production of the album, the band also took care of the artwork, video material and promotion. This first LP reflects the process of searching for a sound and the development of the ideals and images that now characterize the band. This LP is released on January of 2012 through a joint campaign with Greenpeace Chile (http://www.greenpeace.org/chile/es/involucrate/The-Reaction-se-suma-a-Greenpeace/).
During 2012 the band promotes their work through live shows and social media, playing in Santiago and the south of Chile. General reception of their work is very positive, and this allows them to reach foreign radios and online blogs that would get the band great reviews and would pave the decision to seek new horizons. The band also releases the video for the single "I AM SOMEBODY", a song with a strong political message dedicated to social movements that where developing around the world . The video was recorded during the first chilean student demonstrations in 2012 ("I AM SOMEBODY" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdkqymVEek0 Official Video).
On June of 2012 the band travels to Vancouver, Canada, looking for new experiences and opportunities for their music. Being completely unknown initially, the band achieved notoriety quickly in the local scene through their live shows, demonstrating their quality, charisma and effort. Several bands, local promoters, radio stations and producers began showing interest in the band’s work. That's when they meet Garth Futcher and Garth Richardson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garth_Richardson), both producers of such renowned bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Rise Against, and Biffy Clyro, who take them under their wing to begin production of a new album. Richardson also invites Bob Ezrin, legendary producer of Pink Floyd’s "The Wall" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ezrin), to participate in the production of some of the songs for this new album.
The band recorded their new material in Vancouver, in Richardson and Ezrin’s Fader Mountain Studios (http://www.fadermountainsound.com/), Nimbus School of Recording Arts (http://nimbusrecording.com/), and Scott Ternan’s studio The Rack. Garth Richardson then travelled to finish the last part of the album's recordings in Chile on February of 2014, at Estudios Tierra, and is currently mixing and mastering the material that will soon have a final release date.
This album contains the energy and power that characterizes the band, and strengthens their unique sound that mixes the nuances and textures of electronic music with the rawness of rock. The band continues going into the need for a spiritual revolution in times of despair and fear, and seeks to express a message of love and activism, an unusual combination in bands of this style. The release date is not yet defined, but they are in conversations with various labels.
In the meantime, the band is currently in Chile working on their touring plans, the release of their new material and playing local shows. Regarding settling in a specific place, there is nothing certain about that, because if anything was learned during their time in Canada is that in today’s world a band needs to keep moving if it aspires to get it's message heard.
