So as usual, the band have done their homework brilliantly, and soon after the release of The Crest, the Axel Rudi Pell Band will introduce their latest release as part of their 2010 tour: the first leg will kick off in May, followed by a number of big festivals during the summer, before the second leg is set to start in autumn. Following the enthusiastic reactions to their shows with Heaven And Hell in summer 2009, Pell is open to suggestions regarding another co-headed tour with a renowned act. “We had a lot of fun with Heaven And Hell, so I’d definitely consider a similar concept.”
The beginnings of KAMPFAR date back to 1994, as Dolk bid farewell to his former band Mock. His desire to continue expressing himself musically and to move ahead prompted him to seek new blood. He recruited Thomas to take on the guitar responsibilities and soon the duo began composing new material.
The RAGE story begins way back in 1984, when their debut album "Prayers of Steel" was released. Albums were released in regular intervals, and RAGE toured tirelessly throughout Europe, making an abiding and enthusiastic fanbase. Their 1992 album release "Trapped" marked their international breakthrough, with tours through Asia, Russia and South America succeeding regularly after every new release. With a new line-up, RAGE realize their work "Lingua Mortis" in 1996, the first classical album by a German metal act. Subsequently, RAGE plus orchestra did a celebrated tour and played at several European festivals. Their thirteenth album "XIII" saw the light of day in March 1998, forming not only another highlight in the band's career but also the beginning of a new chapter in their line-up: The subsequent album "Ghosts" was followed by a severe personnel change which resulted in guitar player and multiinstrumentalist Victor Smolski joining the band. Together with Peavy Wagner, Victor Smolski is the musical head within the current RAGE line-up and it would be totally impossible to imagine RAGE without him now.
TestAmenT was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980's. Originally formed as 'Legacy' in 1983 by founding members Eric Peterson (rhythm guitar), Derrick Ramirez (guitar) and Louie Clemente (drums), the line-up included vocalist Steve Souza and Greg Christian (bass). Ramirez was later replaced by wunderkind Alex Skolnick (lead guitar). Souza soon departed to join Exodus and suggested that the towering Chuck Billy take over as frontman. The band became known as 'Testament' 3 years later, while recording their debut album in Ithaca, New York.
It has been 29 years since the heavy metal holocaust known as GWAR burst upon our world in an explosion of blood, guts, and screaming steel. In this time they have revealed themselves not only as the un-disputed masters of “shock rock”, but also as an international cultural icon that has both touched the lives, and in some cases ruined the clothing, of many thousands of people. Often copied, never tamed, GWAR has set a standard of consistency in their work that is unmatched in rock and roll history. GWAR is currently supporting their 13th album, the incredible "Battle Maximus", and will continue in their non-stop tour schedule until the world is finally brought into groveling submission, and GWAR at last attains its glorious destiny, whatever that is.
Endstille a german formation, founded in December 2000, plays ugliest aggressive Black-Metal with the fire rate of a MG42 and the power of heavy ship-artillery.
It’s astonishing to realise that DragonForce now have a history going back 15 years, and that they’re about to release their sixth album. But such is the pace at which music and life move these days that what was seemingly a highly promising young British metal band just yesterday are now an established full force (ahem) on the scene. In fact, their reputation is such that anything new from this lot is regarded as a landmark moment in the ongoing story of metal. But the new DragonForce album is a revelation, one that will surely entice them to another level of achievement.
For some years, Thomas Bergli (Khold, Tulus, ex-Old Man’s Child, ex-Sensa Anima) had ideas for a solo album as Sarke. He finally wrote the songs needed in 2008 and in November that year he went into the studio H10 Productions with producer/engineer Lars-Erik Westby. For help with keyboards, he once again turned to his old teammate Anders Hunstad who had previously played with Bergli on albums with Sensa Anima and Tulus. For the vocals, Bergli asked non other than Nocturno Culto from legendary Darkthrone. Culto initially turned down the offer without hearing the songs, but finally had to give in since Bergli just wouldn’t give up getting his favourite singer for his material. It all turned out good when Culto finally heard the songs in the studio, and the vocals were done in only 5 hours. Sarke himself recorded all the drums, bass and guitars. Asgeir Mickelson was hired as designer for the logo and the album cover. ”Vorunah” was released by Indie Recordings on 6. April 2009 on both CD and vinyl.
Only people hiding under rocks the last couple of years haven’t noticed VOLBEAT in the musical landscape. The impressive success and recognition that the band enjoyed on the first album ”The Strength / The Sound / The Songs” in 2005 and 2006 is next to nothing compared to the explosive impact VOLBEAT had in 2007 with the follow-up ”Rock The Rebel / Metal The Devil”. From having played small to mid-sized venues in Denmark VOLBEAT found themselves on the biggest stages and festivals. The audience was eager to experience the sheer live energy that VOLBEAT’s music radiates.
