 Поняв, что ничего хорошего из этакого ужасного подобия "прогрессивного" хэви метала, записанного на альбоме "Hellbound", не выйдет, сразу двое участников Warlock предприняли решительные действия. Довольно радикально поступил основатель группы, Руди Граф. Поняв, что его мнение уже, по большому счету, абсолютно никого не интересует, он очень сильно разочаровался и ушел из группы, громко хлопнув дверью. И тут позицию лидерства в коллективе наконец-то начала брать на себя очаровательная Доро Пеш. В качестве нового рекрута взяли ее протеже - талантливого и, что самое главное, также тяготеющего к про-американскому саунду, гитариста Нико Арванитиса. Таким вот интересным образом Доро получила в свое распоряжение сильного союзника в невидимой борьбе за будущее Warlock. Но третий альбом команды все еще продюсировал Генри Старосте, а творческий дуэт Питера Сзигети и Франка Риттеля все еще жаждал "продолжения банкета". Так что на третьем студийнике коллектива, получившим истинно металическое название "True As Steel", наметилась некая битва стилей - трио во главе со Старосте продолжило поставлять на альбом "псевдо-прогрессивные" композиции в общей стилистике элегантного спид метала, со множеством хоров и занятных технических изысков. А Доро и Нико, в пику всем остальным, принялись активно сочинять намного более простые песенки, вполне подошедшие бы под определение "отличный американский хэви". И что самое интересное - несмотря на такой очевидный конфликт, сам диск получился просто отличным. Скорее всего, дело здесь в том самом разнообразии. Для любителей чего-нибудь посложнее, в духе "Hellbound", в наличие имеются шикарные и довольно закрученные номера, навроде открывающего альбом скоростного боевика "Mr. Gold", мистической эпопеи "Midnight In China", или лирической полубаллады "Love In The Danger Zone". Ну а все признаки будущего стиля Warlock пробиваются из настоящего стадионного гимна "True As Steel", красивой баллады "Love Song", и, конечно, наиболее показательного в этом плане номера "Fight For Rock", который, если особо не прислушиваться, можно легко спутать, например, с произведениями Vixen или Литы Форд. Также общий прогресс коснулся и технических деталей - запись и микширование вышли на вполне себе мировой уровень, а голос мадам Пеш все больше и больше напоминает идеальный образец хэви металической фронтвумен, никакого следа неуверенности и неопытности в ее вокале уже совсем не осталось. В общем, "True As Steel", последнее противостояние на почве смены стилей, получилось у Warlock на удивление качественным. В дальнейшем подобных конфликтов в группе уже не будет. |
