У шестого альбома Rainbow очень завлекательная обложка и соответствующее ей название. Наверное, имеется в виду, что слушатель, купивший этот диск, с первыми звуками музыки сразу же впадет в длительный экстаз, который отступит только с последним аккордом гитары в завершающей песне. К сожалению, ничего подобного во время прослушивания "Straight Between The Eyes" не происходит. Удивить своей новой работой придирчивых поклонников Ричи Блэкмор и Ко не смогли. Все меломаны просто получили хорошую и добротную пластинку без особых откровений или новаторств. Перед записью этого диска состав Rainbow в очередной раз претерпел изменения - на этот раз место Дона Эйри за клавишами занял Дэвид Розенталь. На музыкальный стиль это, конечно, совсем не повлияло. По сравнению с предыдущим диском "Difficult To Cure" он не изменился ни на йоту - мы слышим все тот же качественный и насквозь коммерческий хард-рок. Голос Джо Линн Тернера немного изменился в лучшую сторону, теперь его вокальные партии приобрели некую твердость и мужественность, хотя доля слащавости в его пении по-прежнему превалирует. Никаких технический откровений не прибавилось, но сам каркас звука остался крепким и надежным. В целом, качество песен получилось на порядок выше, чем в прошлый раз, проходной материал практически отсутствует. Очень энергично смотрится скоростной открывающий боевик "Death Alley Driver", этакое переосмысление идей старой доброй "Highway Star". Также очень драйвовыми и заводными вышли позитивный номер "Bring On The Night (Dream Chaser)" и основанная на мгновенно захватывающем в плен гитарном риффе "Power". В качестве непременного лирического перерыва достойно выглядят очень красивый блюзовый трек "Stone Cold" и просто потрясающе эмоциональная баллада "Tearin' Out My Heart". Все остальные песни особо не выделяются, но и никаких отрицательных эмоций не вызывают. В целом, альбом получился весьма добротным, "Straight Between The Eyes" - это отличный образец качественного хард-рока. Но при его прослушивании лучше не вспоминать об эпохе Дио - иначе все начнет казаться ужасно примитивным и безвкусным. |

Откровенно слабый альбом, думаю, худшее из всего, что сделал Блэкмор. Вокал просто никакой, клавиши хорошие, но не роковые (единственное исключение - изумительное соло в "Death Alley Driver"), барабаны неинтересные. Собственно, только Блэкмор с Гловером играют так, как надо, но этого явно мало для хорошего альбома. Из более или менее интересных вещей здесь, пожалуй, "Death Alley" и "Eyes Of Fire". Кстати, на "Death Alley Driver" есть весьма интересный клип. |
