 Альбом был записан в далеком 1985-м году и являет собой мощный и техничный хэви/спид метал. Качество записи далеко не безупречно и несколько глуховато, однако в данном случае это стоит рассматривать лишь как достоинство, ухающие ударные в сочетании с мощными гитарными риффами немало добавляют колорита и привлекательности альбому. Тем более уже здесь музыканты радуют профессионализмом, особенно это касается гитарных дуэлей: Джефф Торп и Винни Мур (который ушел из группы после этого альбома и стал героем шреда) попеременно выдают великолепные соляки. К слову, это первый и последний релиз, где солируют две гитары, поскольку позже все обязанности лидер-гитариста взял на себя Джефф Торп. О да, необходимо упомнянуть о вокалисте, Гэри Сент-Пьере! Его голос не столь профессиональный, как у последующего певца Карла Альберта, однако очень харизматичный и агрессивный, часто срывающийся на фальцет. Но самое главное, что все эти составляющие подкреплены отличными песнями, которые интересно слушать. Лучшие - ураганные спидовые номера "Ride (Into the Sun)", "Blitz The World" и мощные хэви-боевики "Murder", "Medusa", заглавная "Soldiers Of The Night" и закрывающая "Blistering Winds". Как и на последующем "Digital Dictator", при всей мелодичности здесь нет и намека на балладность или слащавость. Мощнейший раскаленный хэви, который приятно слушать и в наши времена как образчик настоящего неиспорченного металла, которым были богаты 80-е годы. Очень сильный дебют, который вполне достоин считаться классикой тяжелого рока. |
